Have you ever lived a day thinking it was the wrong day, almost all day?
I have a very versatile schedule as far as my work is concerned. I do not have a traditional 9-5 monday through friday sort of thing going on and I am very happy that this is the case. I am the master of my own domain and my ability to remain employed is almost entirely dependent upon whether or not I can get things done using my own schedule. I do have a boss, but that boss isn't watching me to see if I am working or not and this is probably because of the fact that they are located in Ohio and I live in Vietnam.
They get the benefit of paying me substantially less than they would have to if I lived in Ohio and I get the benefit of not being subjected to the high cost of living that is USA. It likely balances out in the end and it works for me, so I continue to do it.
Anyway, because I am never punching a clock and rarely have to be anywhere, it is absolutely vital that I maintain some sort of order on my own. This consists of me doing certain things on certain days at certain times and for the most part I am pretty good at this.
However, just two days ago, I for some reason woke up thinking it was a day that it wasn't and it wasn't until I arrived somewhere that they were surprised to see me and the people that I expect to be there, weren't there, that I realized I had lived the entire day up to that point as if it was a different day than it is.

That is probably similar to what I looked like when it was pointed out to me several times using Google translate that I was there a day early and it occurred to me that I am an idiot, at least for that little bit of time.
The app can be blamed for me losing my cool a little bit because they said something like "we have your appointment for tomorrow" rather than "you are here a day early, it is Tuesday, not Wedenesday." I apologized a lot to them but at this point I had already lived most of my day as if it was Wednesday.
I woke up around 8 and then I tool around on the computer a bit while I have 1 or 2 cups of coffee, it is at this time that I arrange my Wednesday duties on a piece of paper because I am old school. Had I been using something like a calendar app I would have noticed I had my days wrong.
Then I took Nadi for a walk like I always do before it gets too hot in the morning. When we return I always give her breakfast so that she can stop stalking me long enough for me to go to the supermarket - which is something I always do on Wednesday. Then I went to go meet my friend for lunch, which is something I always do on Thursday as well. It is just by luck that he happened to be there on Tuesday also because had he not been there I would have sent him a message and asked him why he is late and he would have told me I had my days wrong. But he was there and the day of the week that it was just didn't come up because people don't talk about that very often do they?
Then at 2pm I went to the gym for my usual Wedenesday session and noticed that some of the people that are always there on Wedenesday, were not there... but that we because I am the dumbass who got the days wrong, not them.
It wasn't until 3pm that I finally figured out that the day was not the day that I thought it was when I turned up at the doggy beauty salon for Nadi's weekly beauty treatment that I was informed that I don't have an appointment for that day.

Nadi badly needed a haircut and as you know, it makes her very nervous to be in this shop because this is the place where they cut her nails. So her nervousness makes me nervous and I was a little less than kind to the staff. I was accusing them of moving my booking without permission but the reality was that I was there a day early. It took me about 5 minutes of back and forth conversation using a translation app for me to finally look at my watch and realize that is not Wednesday, and here I am, in the afternoon, thinking it is tomorrow.
I apologized profusely to the girls working there because they were very confused about this guy, who is normally really nice, being a bit rude to them. I left laughing and I think they found it funny as well. I will say this: Nadi was extremely pleased to be leaving there but little did she know that we were simply going to return the following day.
This doesn't often happen to me but I always feel like a bit of a dope when it does happen. Of all the adult things I have to do in my life such as pay bills, take care of a dog, exercise, maintain my work life and do other things on a schedule you would think that I would be able to remember what day it is.
I had a laugh and went home and went to work. At least my day was productive and I didn't miss a bowling day... but then again, if it was a bowling day I would have had dozens of messages by noon time anyway.
