Stupid people (1)

Heres my "first" post aside from the introducing myself one. So heres two past experiences with two people at a bank I used to work in. The name is irrelevant I suppose but to make it more interesting I'll just give a hint...and for legal purposes I don't want to give out names :)

Stupid bank with stupid people? (The bank that got bailed out)

Back in 2011, I was in my last banking role (although I didn't know that it would be the case) doing a project where I had to gather internal department's reference data requirements (data like share price, FX rates, oil prices etc) and have their UNIX accounts set up (so that data can be downloaded securely). Now I distinctively remember dealing with this lady which really made me think "how on earth did you get into banking" and "no wonder this bank has failed"...although TBH it probably wasn't that bad but I tend to overreact at things lol.

So I emailed this data information gathering Form to the lady and spoke to her explaining what its for and how it should be filled in. About a week later it was returned to me and having gone through it there was a section missing.

1. "please tick below the data that is currently used by the team" below it were a list of reference data (e.g. shares, FX rate, bond prices etc).

So I went back and explained that two sections were missing. Her response was "I already gave you everything, what else do you need?" I was thinking at that point I already told you!...but as I was professional I just explained again...she then agreed that she'll fill it in and return it.

About three pasts and I still hadn't received the document and so I called up to remind her. Her response was "I thought I already gave you everything, what else do you need?"...yep the same exact response as last time even though two sections were clearly missing! WTF?! What a moran. So I explained again...and she once again said she'll do it and return it. Then (you've guess it) a few weeks pasts again and still nothing and so I called back....her response was a little different, she said "I don't understand what you need"....OMG...seriously?!?! after all those explanations and you said you'd return it and all and you're now saying you don't understand?!...besides WHAT DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND?! You just need to indicate what data you and your team currently use! I can't remember how that ended, my manager may have just said leave that person for now and we'll get back to her in a few months.

But you'd think well thats just one case...there must be other clever people at the place...WRONG. So again, on the same project, doing the same thing where I had to collect data information from different departments...and there was this guy who missed out one section:

1. One of the sections was "please provide a UNIX account name (this can be anything you want and no more than 6 letters).

So I emailed him explaining that he needs to provide it. He responded that he understood and will return it ASAP. And like the other lady...he didn't reply after a few weeks and so I chased him by giving him a call...and he said he doesn't understand what he needs to do...so I said, you just need to make up a name that you/your team likes as long its no more than 6 letters long....he said "What name is this? I don't have anything, where do I find it?".....I was thinking OMG!...Are you for real?..JUST MAKE SOMETHING UP!...In the end I just did it for him...but he was still baffled...doh doh doh.
