How a simpler lifestyle, especially living close to nature, can help us reinvent ourselves
We operate as if we are robots or slaves in order to obtain things that we do not require. We had forgotten where we had come from and where we were going; we had even forgotten what it was like to live in the natural world. And we live a life that is fake and thoughtless.
On this artificial and thoughtless way of life, we are driven by the pursuit of money, property, popularity, and arrogance. The assumption being that this is all part of a strategy to make ourselves feel better and more secure.
Wilderness areas, on the other hand, are our genuine natural environment. We will not be able to entirely eliminate evil from our lives if we continue to deny that we are a part of it. We all need to take a recycling excursion back to nature on a regular basis. Modern life is a beautiful thing, but it does not supply all of the things that people desire.
Many of us are unhappy because we lead lifestyles that are out of character for us. We are looking for something more original and important, but we are unsure of where to look. A simpler way of life, particularly one that is connected to nature, can assist us in reinventing ourselves...
The less you own, the less responsibility you are required to bear in your life.
If you have less than you need, you will have to make fewer changes.
The less possessions you have, the less money you have to spend.
It is true that the less you have, the more free time you have for other activities (or people).
It is true that the less you have, the less you have to defend.
Even if it is difficult to ask for less regularly, we may do so if we begin by being appreciative for what we do have at the moment.
When we focus on what we don't have, we tend to lose sight of what we do have. We frequently have more resources than we realise. And the majority of the things we believe we require aren't actually required.
It is a natural component of human psychology to celebrate a victory and immediately begin thinking about what else we can do in a short period of time. Also inherent in our nature is the need to aggressively defend what we have gained. Being appreciative for what you have on a regular basis is the most effective method to counteract them.
Minimalism is never about depriving yourself of the things that make you happy. Furthermore, it is not necessary to have a poverty mentality. Essentially, it is about eliminating any sources of distraction from your life. The desire to have less possessions will really make your life far less complicated.
It also does not rule out the possibility of becoming wealthy (if we have everything we need, we are already rich). One method to find spiritual fulfilment is to refrain from pursuing material gain. In other words, it's about not allowing your belongings take over your life, and not having your goods make you lose sight of the most essential things in life.
It is everyone's dream to live in a pleasant environment where they do not have to worry about money. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this. I wish we could all be at this level of accomplishment. Perhaps one day it will come to pass. But keep this in mind: the more you have, the happier you will be in the long run.
This is only applicable in one specific situation. In other words, if you want more, ask for less of what you already have. In other words, contentment with less is the most valuable asset and the source of the greatest happiness.
