About Friday, 18h in São Paulo
Greetings, tired hitchhikers!
Having to move around the city of São Paulo during the chaotic hours of the end of the afternoon of a Friday is a really unique experience. When the clock approaches the 18h mark, the city starts to boil and people just want to get out of their offices as soon as possible.
Tonight, as I successfully entered one of the last trains within our subway lines, I was happy and a bit surprised to find a place to sit. I reached for my book, the third of the five in the trilogy of The Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy, and I went on an interstellar journey with another Arthur, this one born in Douglas Adam's thoughts.
However, you cannot measure my surprise when I got to the end of this line of the subway: I took the train going to the wrong way (:
It's been definitely more than a year since this last happened to me, and this time I blame the tiredness of working a bit more than I was doing (thankfully), and also to the unique experience that is taking the public transport mid Friday happy hour.
Even though I got a bit frustrated at first, I have to admit that I'm fond of new experiences. And because of that, I was able to enjoy a bit being inside the train while it makes the turn to go in the other direction. Of course I freaked out a bit at first and searched for a subway officer to tell what had happened, and fortunately there was one. She gladly instructed me to be calm and stay put, since it indeed was going the other way.
I ended up reading a lot more than I expected.
And who would've thought? Talking about reading The Hitchhikers', and as I get to this building I hear the pizza delivery guy saying that it's for the apartment 42.
