Past Vs Now
People of my generation keep looking back in to the past and reminiscing of the old times we had which were so different then now. We had no technology then and yet life operated so smoothly, there was not much exposure and yet it was so satisfying to live in the limited means we had. There were no fancy cars, and yet we travelled happily in the public transport of our cities without any complaints. I just feel sometimes that we lived more satisfied when it was all little. Now we have lots and yet majority of the people are unhappy with what they have and want more.
Till I completed my education, I never knew what boredom was, because there was always something to do, and there were so many friends, we would play outdoors, do all our house chores manually and it was all fun. But nowadays I hear children of 5 and 6 years saying they are bored. A lot of kids if they do not have a gadget in their hand they do not know what else to do. It is a sad reality. If you try to diver their mind to other activities they will not be able to for a long time, in a short time they will again revert back to their boredom. I see this with quite a few of my friend's kids. One of my friend's 2 1/2 year old daughter knows how to swipe the phone.
I do not know whether the life feels unreal now or was it unreal then. But I am so glad that I have been able to witness both sides of it. I am not saying technology is not good, but it needs to be exposed in the right manner and especially to children. They should enjoy their growing up in many ways and not only be stuck to gadgets. Life is not only about using gadgets, it is much more. And it all starts with parents. For the current generation, who have not seen life without technology it is difficult for them to understand what it can be. For them it is a disaster, but in real it is so much fun.
It's not that all the parents are same, there are many who are teaching their children real lives, exposing them to many parts of life and not limiting it to only gadget entertainment. It takes some efforts to do that, but it is so much healthy not only for the child but as a family also.
I wish I could go back to those times 3 decades back when things were less and living was more.

@nainaztengra, your post really resonated with me! It's beautifully nostalgic and hits on a crucial point about how technology shapes our experiences, especially for the younger generation. The contrast you draw between your childhood, filled with outdoor play and simple joys, and the gadget-obsessed world of today's kids is so thought-provoking. It's a reminder to us all to encourage a balanced approach, ensuring children experience the real world beyond screens. Thanks for sharing your insightful reflections and prompting a much-needed conversation! What are some of the traditional games you enjoyed as a child? I'd love to hear more!
