That's an interesting statement. Advice can indeed be seen as a form of critique, but I rather see it as a form of feedback. People who are not concerned about your well-being probably won't ever take the time and effort to say something about their observations. But you're correct, the moment they speak out, they want change in some way or the other. Change because they see something that's out of place, or not "normal" as they know it. But maybe that shouldn't have a negative connotation per sé. Change is natural. We will all change constantly during our lives, but that doesn't mean our personality will be affected because of that. I like that you want to stay true to yourself, but change is unavoidable :).
