RE: Being beaten up in every dream I remember since starting detox. WTH is this about?

in #life8 years ago

Somewhere I read recently some ways to increase the frequency of lucid dreams... One of them was to simply think about lucid dreaming before going to sleep and so I tried it and I think I had a small degree of success. It'd actually been quite a while since my last lucid dream, which was why I was interested to read that article. One of these short bursts of lucid dreaming started as a regular dream that was beginning to go bad - I'd gotten myself onto a steep roof and was gradually sliding off it. I wanted to roll over a bit so I could fetch up against some wall or something right at the edge of the roof but I couldn't manage that (prolly some mild sleep paralysis...). As this all got a bit more intense, right at the edge of the roof, I decided to leap instead of just dropping off, which is a neat trick for the paralysed, but I didn't fall, I flew. It'd also been a while since I'd had a flying dream. As this was happening I knew it was a lucid dream and the whole thing was holding together instead of dissolving into wakefulness and I was so pleased with myself I was flying around trying to prove to myself that it was a proper lucid dream by following trivial conscious trains of thought like doing simple arithmetic... Somehow, even when I haven't gotten to a properly lucid state, when whatever it may be is about to get me, I face it and go on the attack - typically the reward for that is the nasty dream sequence ends and a new, non-threatening dream begins.

Well, If you want to have more dream recall, 100% reliable method is increasing your intake of specifically Tyrosine and Phenylalanine. This also will raise your sleep arousal baseline and interfere with deep sleep. However, if done deliberately during the day, with some method you have of inducing sleep, you could use this to practice lucid dreaming.

Personally, I consider lucid dreaming to be a total waste of time. No more useful than incantations and knife/wand/cup/disk rituals or any other such machinations, but in the 'shamanic' form. Manipulating the dream space in order to embed conscious will into the unconscious.

Personally, I like the surprises of leaving the bigger picture of my spiritual path up to the design of the system.
