It was a cold Sunday evening when I was returning home from work. The streets of my neighborhood were dimly lit, and I was driving my old car, which I used as a taxi at night to provide for my family.

As I stopped on the roadside, an elderly man waved his hand. He wore worn-out clothes and held an old Qur’an in his hand. When I opened the door for him, he said:
— “My son, can you take me to the main mosque in the city? It’s not very far.”

I was tired, but his calm voice and the wisdom etched into his aged face touched my heart. I replied:
— “Please get in, father. The mosque isn’t far.”

As we drove along, he began to speak. He told me that he had once been a Qur’an teacher, more than 30 years ago. But the children had grown up and scattered, his wife had passed away, and loneliness had overtaken his life.

I asked him:
— “Father, how have you managed to live with such loneliness for so long?”
He answered with a soft smile:
— “The Qur’an and the prayers of the children I once taught have been enough for me. Every person leaves behind a trace in this world — either good or bad. I tried to leave behind a good one.”

When we reached the mosque, he handed me a few coins. I refused, but he insisted, saying:
— “The money isn’t the value, my son. It carries a blessing. A little given with a full heart is worth more than a lot given with a hard heart.”

He stepped out, and I watched him slowly walk into the mosque, holding his old Qur’an. Tears filled my eyes. That night I realized I wasn’t just driving a taxi alone, but that there was a greater purpose traveling with me — a reminder that every life carries a message.

🎯 Moral of the Story
