History of Limit @smeet

Mathematics is one of the core lessons that have been set by the Minister of Education of Indonesia. Mathematics has been taught since in elementary school, until still applied to the work even in everyday life. Mathematics has many parts ranging from basic math to higher levels....

When high school, the limit is one of the lessons taught. Limit can be applied in the world of work even in everyday life.

HISTORY LIMIT

Limit developed from time to time, developed by various researchers to achieve a perfection in the formula. One of the researchers is named Gottfried Willhelm Leibniz (1646 - 1716). Leibniz is the son of a professor of moral philosophy, Friedrich Leibniz a German citizen.

In 1661, at the age of 15 years (classified as a genius), he entered the university of Leipzig by majoring in law. He realized that his interest was in the field of philosophy, but he still passed his law degree in 1663, before he moved to Jena. There, he understood only the importance of mathematical proof of logic and philosophy. Philosophy is the basic reason why Leibniz studied Mathematics because both have relationships.

Meeting with Huygens
There are two figures who became the influence of Leibniz in the field of mathematics. A mathematician named Erhard Wiegel and also a physicist named Christian Huygen (far more influential) after they met when Leibniz was 26 years old in Paris. Huygens is indeed a physicist, but his best works are related to horology (science of time measurement), as a researcher on the movement of light, also in the field of mathematics. Huygens gave Leibniz his paper on the mathematical basis of his pendulum to Leibniz. Seeing how mathematics worked great, Leibniz begged Huygens to teach him mathematics. Happily Huygens is willing.

To give an impression to Huygens, Leibnez showcased the results of his invention. One of those mentioned was a calculating machine that he said was far more powerful than Pascal's, which could only handle added and less; while Leibniz's machine can handle the multiplication, division and counting of the roots of numbers. Under Huygens's guidance, Leibniz quickly discovered his true identity as a mathematician. The learning process of Huygens was delayed several months when Leibniz had to serve in London as Attache. While in London, Leibniz attended a meeting with the Royal Society, where he demonstrated the workings of his invention-counting machine. The discovery and result of his work left Leibniz as a member of the Royal Society of foreign nationality (not British) before he returned to Paris in 1673. Leibniz and Newton were almost simultaneously appointed members of the French Academy of Sciences of foreign nationality. Satisfied with Leibniz's achievements, Huygens told his protégés to continue to pursue mathematics. In a farewell with Huygens in Paris, in order to return to Hanover, Leibniz promised to use his spare time to pursue mathematics. In 1676, Leibniz devoted himself to Duke Brunswick-Luneburg. Newton and Leibniz, both claim to be inventors of calculus.

Leibniz vs Newton
Newton began the idea of calculus in the 1660s, but the works were not published for nearly 20 years. No one knows clearly whether Leibniz at the age of 33 found Newton's "pent-up" works during his visit to London, because at that time he was developing calculus, albeit with a slightly different version of Newton's version, where the findings this is always debatable people.
