RE: Mindful Life Monday: Hair?

in #mindfulness6 years ago

I always say hair is like the manes of a lion - they are our ego, part of are appearance - we let it define who we are.

I admire those who can shave it off and don't care. I can't... yet

I have dreadlocks for more than 20 years now. Always colored in some ting of red. Except last year, for our wedding, I made it fuchsia, lol.

Getting a haircut is not an option, lol.
When they first put the dreadlocks in, I looked into the mirror, and there was this feeling of: I'm finally 'me'.

Even after 20 years, I still have that feeling. I know the pride I take in them are an ego-issue, and so far, I can't even think of cutting them, let alone losing them.

But what you say is true indeed. Due to circumstances, I couldn't have them colored for an entire year. I actually felt so bad I didn't even care. And it looked so bad, that I felt even worse... it's a vicious circle.

Since two weeks, I'm finally a redhead again, and I haven't felt better and more like myself in months. It was awesome to look in the mirror and see myself again. :0)
