What’s going on friends? Hope you all having great time. It’s nice to take a look 25th Season 1st Challenge organized by @ruthjoe. I am truly a movie lover and I try hard to understand the story being told in the movie. I have watched many movies in my life so far and I hope to share one of the movies that stood out with you through this Challenge. I invite you all to share your movie with us. You can easily participate according to the Contest rules and I appreciate @ruthjoe to creating such a amazing contest.

Like Hollywood, Bollywood, Nollywood, the Sri Lankan movie industry is known as Follywood. This is because most of the famous actors in Sri Lanka have names that start with the letter F.

The movie I chose to talk about in this topic is the South Korean-produced movie Parasite, which has set a record on the IMDB index. What motivated me to watch this movie was the line in the movie review about a poor family's plan to get rich quick and disappear from the world. We all try hard to move forward successfully in life. So I don't think twice about watching a movie like this that gives such motivation.

Parasite, a popular South Korean film directed by Bong Joon-ho, is a movie that has gained global attention. Parasite means feeding on others. This story begins like this, there is a very poor family. Mother, father, daughter, and son. And all of them have no job. They live in a very small, slum-like house. They do part-time jobs like making pizza boxes to cover their daily expenses. With the little money they earn from this, they cover their daily expenses. Their house is located so low that even the smoke from outside to drive away mosquitoes enters the house.

The son's name is Kim. One day, Kim gets an opportunity through a friend (Min) to teach a young girl living in a rich house. In fact, Kim has no qualifications for that job. Kim tells her sister to make fake certificates to gain the opportunity to teach this girl. From here on, everyone's lives start to turn upside down. This is a great movie that makes you not understand what will happen from the moment it starts.

To suit each member of the rich Park family, Kim respectively proposes her sister as an art therapist, the teacher of the youngest child in the Park family, her father as the Park family's driver, and Kim's mother as the housekeeper. They try various strategies to make the Park family dislike the earliest driver and housekeeper.

Talk about the main idea of the movie

The movie Parasite explores the social class gap between the wealth and the poor. It shows how people from different economic backgrounds live in completely separate worlds, even when they are physically close. The movie tries to send a powerful message to society about inequality, greed, and the illusion of upward mobility.

Share the characters

The movie revolves around the events that occur between the poor Kim family and the rich Park family.

1. Kim Ki-taek - The father of the poor Kim family. Resourceful and calm, but becomes darker as the movie progresses.

2. Kim Ki-woo - The son who first enters the Park family home, posing as a counselor.

3. Kim Ki-jung - The daughter who fakes her identity to become an art therapist.

4. Park Dong-ik - The rich father of the Park family.

5. Park Yeon-kyo - Mr. Park's innocent and deceitful wife.

6. Gook Moon-gwang - The former housekeeper of the Park family with a unbelievable shocking secret.

Describe the plot and setting of the movie.

I watched online this movie

The movie is set in modern-day Seoul, South Korea. The Kim family lives in a semi-basement apartment in a poor neighborhood. Through a connection, the son is hired to tutor a wealthy girl from the wealthy Park family. One by one, the Kims lie and manipulate the Parks into jobs - as a tutor, art therapist, driver, and housekeeper - without the Parks knowing they are related.

Things take a dark turn when the Kims discover that the former housekeeper is hiding her husband in a secret basement. The story evolves into a thriller with unexpected violence, showing how class tensions can erupt.

If you were the Director of the movie what would you do differently?

If I were directing the movie, I could:

📌Give a bit more backstory to the Park family, making them more complex than just making them rich and ignorant.

📌Include a hopeful subplot, perhaps showing one of the Kim family members truly connecting with one of the Park family members, and showing that empathy can cross class lines.

📌Show more scenes from neighborhoods, not just homes, to broaden the view of social structure.
