RE: Steemit Top 50: Some of my all time top favourites
Great picks of songs. He nominated me for this as well and I am not really sure what to do about it because my playlist at work is mostly jazz and light jazz. It just puts me in a good mood when I am working in my office. I will have to dig in and see what I can find though.
I'm not discovering as much music these days, but I find a few bands through Steemit posts. It would be great to see the bands sign up.
I was listening to a really good podcast the other day where they were talking about the differences between some of the music streaming services. They were saying that Spotify is good if you have a specific band that you want to listen to. Then they were talking about Pandora and how Pandora is great if you want to find new bands that have a similar sound to ones you already like. You can start a station and maybe find some cool artists you had never heard of before. I have used both Spotify and Pandora and I had never thought of it like that before but what they were saying is pretty accurate.
I've used Spotify a bit. It can be good to check out music, but I'll still buy albums I love. I used to listen to some prog podcasts that introduced me to loads of bands. I bought a lot of music from that
I used to get some magazines and I would but albums based on their recommendations with out even hearing the band. Most of the time they were pretty spot on. Lately I have been digging into a lot of "New Old Soul" type stuff where it is a new artist, but it has the old time feel to it.
I've bought a few albums based on magazine reviews from the days when it was harder to hear obscure music. The Internet has changed that, but now we are overloaded with it. Still need humans to filter it for us.
Very true!
