I am reposting this not only as a reminder but due to using the wrong first tag last time. I am hoping more people see it. This only works if we get enough people to enter. Please share. Entries can be submitted October 1st - October 10th. See details below.
To get ready to do a truly large scale collaboration song I am holding a contest to choose the first song we do. We have decided to do a steemit related song. A steemit theme song. The contest is to accomplish three things. To promote the idea of doing a Steemit Song Collaboration. To choose the first song we do as a collaboration and to find a great song that represents and promotes steemit!
Please see the video below for examples of a collaboration song. The song should be geared towards promoting steemit in a positive way. The actual collaboration will be the next step. If starbucks can do it so can we!
Your entry must be recorded live. The song should be something that many people can participate in. For instance the song by the Beatles "Love is all you need" is a good example. It should not be too complicated and allow for many people to sing the chorus and hopefully in many languages. It should have positive lyrics and feel to it. Songs should be at least two and a half minutes long and not exceed four minutes. ( we will give a bit of leeway here. )
The song must be about steemit. All genres welcome.
The song can be either an original or a cover. However, If you do a cover song you MUST change the lyrics to be about Steemit.
You do not need to be a pro to enter. If you only sing then you can simply sing the song. You can use karaoke for the music even. The winning song will be chosen by what will be the best fit for a steemit collaboration song. Performance will be a MUCH smaller judging factor than it is in other open mic type contests. What will work for a collaboration and be the best steemit song will be most important.
The songs will be Judged by a panel of 5 Judges
To enter
- Video record your performance
- You must say "Steemit Song Collaboration Contest" at the beginning of your video.
- You must include the tag #sscp.
- You cannot use openmic as your first tag. This will immediately disqualify you!
- You must post your entry between October 1st and October 10th ( winner to be announced on October 14th)
- Your song must have lyrics and be about Steemit
- Lyrics must be posted in the body of your entry post.
A week before the contest begins I will post another post where you should include your entry in the comments.
You must share / re-steem this post. Upvotes greatly appreciated and will go towards prize money. I will make up the difference. I already have 100 steem set aside for this.
I have allotted more time to this contest to allow people to have a chance to really come up with something good and to have time to properly promote it. So get your groove on let's do this!

Hi @tim-rumford!!! I have come across this post and have found no updates. Is this project still on or already passed? I feel it would be fun to join in as it's a great idea and I and we (at the @gardenofedn) love contributing to the expansion of the Steemit community. Excited to hear what is coming of this!!
Still on I will be sending out the official post to so people can begin to send in their entries today or tomorrow. Thinking of extending that time from 15-days to 30 just to get more people involved. But post will go out soon as the 1st is fast approaching. As long as we get like at least 10 entries that are decent it will be well worth it. If we do not reach a min goal I will spread the steem around people who did participate evenly. ( still working out that part but will make it fair and transparent.
