The Cars - Rock Classics #33
The Cars for Rock Classics #33
Steemit Rockers - edition number 33 of your favourite Rock Classics series is here with a band not many know anymore I would assume. They had their big time during the 1970ies and 80ies and one album was very important for me as a young adult. The vinyl of "Heartbeat City" was played at least 200 times on my record player and I love each and every single song of the album - it was also their most successful album commercially back in 1984. This post focuses on songs of that album.
About The Cars
The Cars were founded 1976 in Boston and came from the new wave rock scene of the late 70ies. The two key members have been Ric Ocasek and Benjamin Orr who wrote most of the songs and also acted as lead singer(s). The band managed the integration of synthesizer sounds into guitar rock music.
They won numerous awards such as "Best New Artist" 1978 by Rolling Stone Readers' Poll or the "Video of the Year" award by MTV 1984 for "You Might Think".
Unfortunately they broke up in 1988 and only did a reunion performance when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2018 - Benjamin Orr died in 2000 already (RIP).

My favorite song:
Also a good classic :-) - thanks for reminding!
I think my favorite song of theirs was “All Mixed Up” off the self titled album. Great band. I still have them on my playlist.
they are awesome - my fav is Heartbeat City from "Heartbeat City" - they had a special sound, not the usual mainstream rock!
Always bring some nice bands to introduce to all of us. 😀 Thank you for that because I am super lazy to look for new music and I am always listening to whatever new top hits Spotify suggest me lol

My favorite here is Drive, for the smooth romantic tone which is soothing, inspirational. Second favorite is Hello Again as it seems to be a fun song. Love their style as the kind of songs I would write and sing. Here is an upvote. I'm Oatmeal.
Both classic songs - the special thing on "Drive" is Benjamin singing and the Live Aid performance and link to David Bowie - thanks for checking in!
I'm new to Cars, not to be confused with the Pixar animated film series, and I'm pretty excited about it & Bowie is pretty cool.
Thanks for the feedback and sorry for any confusion - ride them in movies and on vinyl.
Thanks @uwelang for making my day, I really enjoyed these brands.

Wow, I hadn't thought of them in a long time! Remember Touch & Go?
You mean the British Jazz pop musical ensemble "Touch & Go"?
Nope, the Cars ;-)
