He really is @steevc , but he is also very diverse when it comes to playing, but for the most it's prog+metal = John :)
He can be very melodic as well as quick.
BTW One of my favourite bands, The Fierce and the Dead are playing in the Netherlands next year at the Prognosis festival. I won't be there, but they are playing a little warmup gig in London just before that and I will be at that.
