Finding Strength When Help Fails – Somali Wisdom
Original Somali:
“
Hadan dawo kaaga muuqan waxay naftu
doorbideyso, udiid ayadoo tabeysa, dastuur iyo xeer sameyso, marka daristaan dhibaato, qof kale
adigoon la doonan bahida kaligaa daboolo dantaada qof ha u wakiilan.”
English Translation:
“When medicine fails to heal, the soul finds its own way. Act with courage, even if the path is difficult.
Create rules and laws, and when challenges arise,
face them yourself. Do not let anyone else guard your interests—stand firm and protect what is yours.”
Commentary / Insight:
This Somali proverb teaches self-reliance and
courage. It reminds us that while help may not always be available, our inner strength and wisdom
guide us. Life often presents obstacles, and relying
solely on others can leave our goals unfulfilled. By taking responsibility for our own well-being and
decisions, we empower ourselves and safeguard our personal interests. Practical Lesson:
Trust your inner wisdom when external help falls short.
Face challenges directly instead of avoiding them.
Set your own rules and boundaries in life.
Always protect your own interests; no one else can do it as well as you.
