RE: A Gift of Love

Epimedeum (淫羊藿 yínyánghuò) is a great herb for men, as it tonifies the body's yáng as well as nourishing the Blood, so a very well-rounded herb. I gotta say it's got a nasty taste, and taken without some further yīn tonics would lead to too much heat, and damage to yīn/Blood. I use to give it to me combined with the "5 seeds" to increase sperm morphology.

On the one one hand, highly over-rated as an aphrodisiac, but on the other hand, highly under-rated as an herb for men's health issues, including PE and ED.

As I was looking through that list, I realised (after so many years) why many of these herbs get canned, and why so many men complain of them not having the aphrodisiac qualities they're seeking... because using them too much will lead to a kind of 'burn-out' when not combined with appropriate adjuvants and assistant herbs.

Kinda like throwing petrol on a fire to get it hotter — sure, it'll blow up, but then go back out again. A fire needs solid fuel (yīn)... and the denser the wood, the hotter and longer it will burn.

Thanks for the reminder and the insight, although probably not useful for me as I'm not in clinical practice anymore.... LOL...

Thanks for expanding on the taking of herbs!
Isn't that often the case where men tend to feel more is better, wanting more man power! Well explained the caution that more is not better!
Who knows, you may not be in clinical practice but it may come in handy when helping someone in a more informal way.

It’s also a medical mentality also: the sledgehammer approach.
