Contest Announcement: Share your favorite agricultural photography
Cassava is a tuber crop that matures a year. It is planted at the beginning of the rainy season, say from March. At this time, the rain has started fully.
This cassava that I have harvested was planted last year planting season. A lot of work was put in order to have a good harvest. I applied both the organic and inorganic manure so as to make the soil fertile enough for it to grow well.
I got some dungs from my poultry farm and bagged them. I left it to decay properly before taking them to the farm. After the dungs decay, I mix them with the inorganic fertilizer to boost the soil fertility.
I decided to share this agriculture picture of mine because, I do one or two agriculture activities at least once in a week. In this picture, I harvests cassava which is common agricultural produce in my area or community. While late planting of the cassava is still ongoing, harvesting still going on.
Cassava is the main source of carbohydrate which is needed for the body to gain strength. On daily basis, we engage in various kinds work. The works may hard or soft work. This makes it important for us to eat food that gives us strength to engage in our daily activities.
Processing the cassava even from the harvesting up to the frying stage, is not just an easy task. It requires the efforts of two and more persons to produce it. One person engaging in the production and processing the cassava could weigh such a person down.
For harvesting this cassava, it was harvested all alone by me. It it took me two days to do the harvesting by myself. This because as already known, it not easy for one person to engage in it. I had to break the processing bit by bit.
After the harvesting, the next stage would be to start pilling that cassava. This is another stage that also takes more strength to be done. Depending on the quantity harvested, pilling is one of the stages that really consumes more time.
After the pilling, it would be taken to the grinding mill to break the cassava down. When the grinding finishes, it would be bagged and then taken to the pressing machine to remove the accumulated water from it. As the water drips off from it, it becomes more thick. When the water totally finish dropping, it would be taken down from the pressing machine. Now, it would be ready to be sieved properly.
Sieving is the second to the last stage of processing the cassava into eatable form. This process could bead easy when two people are involved in it. One person could be doing the sieving while the other person could be frying.
This is my favorite agriculture pictures that reminds that agriculture is a venture that requires hardworking but at the same time, is rewarding.
In the stage of frying, I also did it myself because the cassava is small in quantity. The frying is a stage when and where the grinded, pressed and sieved cassava is placed on a high heat frying pan to make it dry.
I now invite the following persons to participate in this contest:
