🏵️ “Experience with agricultural product markets”🏵️

All of us who go to the market to sell agricultural products have the main objective of first meeting the needs of the family and then selling them outside. Moreover, by selling agricultural products outside, we earn money and meet other needs of the family. However, in reality, when we go to the market to sell agricultural products, we have to face various experiences. Sometimes good experiences and sometimes bad experiences.

When I go to the local market in my area, I see that the demand for certain crops increases in certain seasons. For example: during the rainy season, the demand for vegetables, rice, etc. increases, and during the dry season, the demand for fish increases. When the supply in the market increases, the traders reduce the price completely, and when the supply decreases, they increase it more than the fair price. As a result, the common people suffer due to excessive prices and the farmers are deprived of their fair price.

The biggest problem here is created by the middlemen. They buy the products from the farmers at a low price, bring them to the market and sell them to the general sellers in the market at a price higher than the fair price. As a result, ordinary market vendors sell products to buyers at high prices. Ordinary vendors are in such a situation that even if they can supply products to buyers according to their needs, they have no control over the prices. Even if they want to, they cannot raise the prices of others. Big traders raise the prices of products according to their convenience.

If we talk about the behavior of traders, some traders are very good. They understand the suffering of farmers. There are some traders who buy products from farmers at a fair price, while there are some unscrupulous traders who buy products from farmers at a low price and sell them to ordinary traders at a high price.

If I talk about my personal experience, a few days ago, I had an amla tree from which I had a lot of mangoes, about 20-30 kg, that mango tree was bought by a trader for only 200 taka. However, when I went to the market, I saw that the price of per kg of mangoes was 40-50 taka.

The administration has a lot of responsibility here. If they monitor the market regularly, then the market price is controlled. Sometimes the administration people conduct raids which are not regular. Due to this some unscrupulous traders get an opportunity. If the administration people worked actively then the farmers would get fair price and the buyers would be able to buy the products at fair price.

Upvoted! Thank you for supporting witness @jswit.

The agricultural product market has always been an eye-opening experience for me. Interacting with farmers, learning about their challenges, and appreciating the freshness of locally grown food makes the visit special. These markets not only promote healthy living but also encourage fair trade and sustainable farming. A fulfilling experience!
