Assalamu Alaikum everyone. Today I am going to participate in a fruit contest in the Nature & Agriculture community. Where the competition is organized by the community moderator @abdul-rakib. The subject is the popular fruit of my country and my opinion on that matter. I think it is a great concept because everyone should share about the popular topic of their country. I will also discuss the popular fruits of my country through this competition.

Which fruit is the most popular in your country that is available in the market during the season?

The most popular fruit in Bangladesh is mango. Although the national fruit of our country is the jackfruit. Still I think mango is one of the most popular fruits of our country. At present, the mango season is going on in our country. Mango is a fruit that is very delicious both raw and ripe. That is why it is in high demand in our country. Mango is a fragrant and nutritious fruit for which production rate in Bangladesh is very high. Although it is a seasonal fruit, this fruit is not available throughout the year.

However when the season of this fruit comes its demand in our country increases to a great extent. Different varieties of mangoes are cultivated in Bangladesh. One of them is: Amrapali, Haribhanga, Fazli, Govindbhog, Langra are notable. And all these mangoes are available in the market seasonally. There are many growers who have made a lot of profit from trading these mangoes. Therefore there is a lot of demand for high quality mangoes in the market during the mango season.

Is that fruit exported from your country to other countries?

Yes, of course. Bangladeshi mangoes are exported to many countries around the world. However, according to the survey, I saw in the newspaper that the production and export of mangoes is going to set a record in 2025. The Department of Agriculture has informed that there has been a large production of mangoes this year and around five thousand tons of mangoes will be exported to other countries. This is a news of great happiness for our country.

This year, it will be exported to about thirty-eight countries including the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Canada. Also, according to the survey, it is seen that this year, compared to the last eight years, the highest mango yield has been achieved, for which it is going to set a record. I am hopeful that such an achievement will play an important role in further accelerating the economy of Bangladesh.

What is your favorite fruit and what are its benefits to the human body.

To tell you the truth my favorite fruit is mango. I like to eat ripe mangoes a lot. But instead of making different recipes of ripe mangoes, I prefer to eat the ripe mango fruit itself. As delicious as mangoes are, this fruit is packed with nutritional properties that are very beneficial for our human body. Therefore, the demand for mangoes in the food list in our country is very high. In Bangladesh, I eat mangoes during the summer. I present below its benefits for human body:

  • Mangoes are very beneficial for the human body because this fruit contains vitamins A, C, E, K which increase the efficiency of our body.

  • Due to the presence of vitamin C in mangoes, it increases the immune system of the human body due to which it keeps the immune system very active in our body.

  • As a result of eating mangoes, our body's blood is purified. Because vitamin A present in mangoes helps to produce antioxidants. Which helps in cleaning the blood and also brightens the skin.

  • Since mango is a fibrous fruit, it definitely contains fiber. And because of this fiber our digestion is good.

  • Since mango is a vitamin A rich fruit, we know that vitamin A is very helpful in improving our eyesight. Therefore, mango is a very useful fruit to increase our eyesight.

Have you ever sold fruits from your home or garden trees in the market? If so, share your experience.

There are many mango trees in our village house. But we have never sold mangoes in the market. These mangoes are kept for me and my family to eat. During the summer the mango trees at my village house produce a lot of mangoes and we eat them ourselves during the mango season. We do not sell these in the market.

Since we live in the same region, the seasonal fruits are the same; however, the climate also affects the availability of some different varieties. I appreciate you inviting me to the contest, and I will send in my entry soon.
