My house is planted with rice and pumpkins.

Usually, most of us who live in villages grow various types of vegetables in our own homes and eat them. Today I will talk about a vegetable that I grow in my own home. Although I know that everyone is familiar with this vegetable, its name is chalkumda. The name may be different depending on the region, but here we call it chalkumda. It is usually seen almost all the time, but in winter, I think chalkumda is very good. Many of you may know that marmalade is made with this chalkumda. Rice Pumpkin Some rice pumpkins grow very big and some are very small. I have planted this rice pumpkin plant on one side of my house, i.e. on one side of the kitchen. At first I thought it might not be very good but later I saw that the plant is quite strong. Several rice pumpkins have grown on the plant. The people of our village make a very nice dish with rice pumpkin and banana, which we call Bori. This rice pumpkin is popular with many people, while many do not want to eat it.

The rice pumpkin plant first has a few leaves and then starts to grow little by little. As this plant grows, you will see a long vine in front of you, which clings to any branch and moves forward from the front. Then when this rice pumpkin grows, it flowers first and then fruits after the flowers. Sometimes the female and male flowers are pollinated by other bees or insects. If the pollination is not done, the male flowers often fall off. Although if the amount of flowers that fall were to bear fruit, they would bear much more, but that does not happen. Naturally, some flowers fall off and some flowers turn into fruits.

You will notice one thing when the masala is given for the rice pumpkin, then when it grows up, it hangs down. When the rows of rice pumpkins are hanging, it looks very beautiful. Our rice pumpkin tree has several rice pumpkins and the rice pumpkins are hanging under the masala on the water's edge, which is very nice to see.
