Greetings to you all who are lovers of the Nature & Agriculture community. You are welcome to my blog. It is my pleasure to write here again.

Today I will be discussing agricultural practices in the past and comparing them with what we do today

Discuss past and present methods from land preparation to harvesting.

In the past, Mother would cook a carbohydrate-based food for the energy needed to work. We will have our simple farm tools like machetes, hoes and shovels ready. Male family members will take the lead, their strength and endurance shape the outcome of the work.

The men will get it with sharp machetes and cut down the bushes. Clearing was always the men's work on a land that lay fallow for a year or two.
Today, one man in a tractor with a bush hog or rotary cutter will care for hectares of land in a few hours,
In the past, we would then mould mounts for a day or more, a task performed by a tractor with a backhoe in one hour over large hectares of land.

During harvesting, we used our hands to shake and pull cassava out of the ground, a task performed by a harvester attached to a moving tractor.

Advantages and disadvantages of using previous and current equipment used in agricultural work.

We have a small amount of land, and the old planting methods made maximum use of the small land, while modern methods will need a larger space to work on.

Advantages of mechanisation in farming

Modern methodTraditionalmethods
More work in less timelittle result to show
Produces more foodproduces less food
It is cheaper to useIt is more expensive

Disadvantages of mechanisation in farming

Modern methodTraditionalmethods
expensive to buythe tools are cheaper
soil compaction/pollutionless adverse effects
Needs skill to operateneeds no special skill

Do you think the use of improved technology in agriculture has led to an increase in the price of crops?

I believe the use of technology is responsible for maintaining the price of farm produce because it results in the planting of more crops, which leads to better harvests. A better harvest means more produce at a lower price.
Mechanised farming will result in more produce at a lower price.

Many people think the abundance of crops in the market has increased, but the taste has decreased. Do you agree?

The test of our food or crops should depend on the type of seedlings we plant and not on the tools or equipment used. Using fertilisers or measures may have some effect on the taste, texture or flavour.
So I will say yes, planting genetically modified varieties can lead to an abundance of crops in the market, but the taste could be different from naturally grown crops.

I am inviting @okere-blessing @manuelhooks, @bossj23 and @eliany to participate in this contest.

I prefer modern time because it is less effort more results. Thanks for modern technology
