Ellis Island Sycamore • Nature Photography
On a visit to Ellis Island last month I shot these beautiful white sycamore branches against a clear blue sky. I can't ever get enough of the trees in the winter months when they are rife with structural details. I guess its a bit like viewing a skeleton. The good thing is that they come back to life in Springtime... still waiting!
I photographed the tree with my Canon 5D camera and 70-200 mm lens.
Thank you @juliank for creating @photocontests!
The tree standouts out in black and white as well.
Thanks for the art and the delegation @overkillcoin... minnows, dolphins, whales... I’m down with squid!
I only know about the sycamore tree from the bible. Now i have an idea what it looks like. It looks very branchy. Do you have any pictures of the entire tree?
It also has a large trunk I'll take a picture for you.
The day was perfect for a good photo... the intense blue sky and that tree naked so much heat hahaha
Lovely photo. Appreciate these type of creativity and also do it.
I feel the same about winter trees @otage. I usually really like the black and white ones too but in this instance I prefer the one with the blue sky. It's such a rich colour and the tree stands out even more in front of it.
Have a fun Sunday! 😊
Thanks... the white bark reverses the contrast.
I thought it was something like that @otage. Were you aware of that when you took the shot?
Yes I was shooting with my DSLR so I only see the frame not as easy to distinguish with a smartphone.
It is a beautiful natural life cycle friend @otage
It is a beautiful life cycle!
It certainly looks like a skeleton. Although technically it is. It is a bare tree.
Wow these are great woods.nice snapshots
