Travel: Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden

I visited the Hawai’i Tropical Botanical Garden last weekend. The Botanical Garden is about 20 minutes north of Hilo on the northeast section of the island. It was a nice drive with ocean on my right and mountains and forests on my left.

The flowers were healthy looking and very colorful. Their colors were rich and vibrant. The variety of flowers was amazing and the health of the flowers and other plants were evident. The Ferns were over 8 feet tall. Every plant was a magnitude of 1.5 and greater bigger then what I am use to seeing. The Big Island of Hawaii is the youngest Island and has the most fertile soil.

These are Pink Orchids.

I took this picture with a setting on my iPhone camera called “stage lighting”. It blackens out the background and draws your focus just on the flower or other subject of the picture. This picture was taken during bright daylight light conditions.

These next pictures were taken with “Regular lighting” settings on my iPhone.

And this one with regular lighting.

This next one is an Orchid and the picture was taken with different setting : stage lighting and preserved foreground, no black out of background.

The next one is a flower called “red ginger”, it is beautiful in person. It also comes in White and Pink Ginger.

The self-guided garden tour was less then an hour and ends at the ocean!
