Introduction of Peshawar museum
The Peshawar Museum is one of the most remarkable, cultural and historical places of Pakistan. It is located at sadar road opposite governer house and sivil secretariat Peshawar. It is the capital city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This museum have a great collection of historical art effects and statues that reflects the magnificient past of the region. It is famous for its amazing collection of Gandhara art which attracts the local people as well as the international researchers, archeologists, students, and tourists.

The Peshawar Museum has more than 14,000 items that include statues, coins, manuscripts, weapons, household items and jewelry. The most valuable and famous treasure of the museum is its Gandhara collection. This collection displays the art, culture and history of the Gandhara civilization which thrived in this region between the 1st and 7th centuries AD.
History of the museum
The Peshawar Museum was established in 1907 during the British colonial period. At first its name was “Victoria Memorial Hall” in honor of Queen Victoria. Its domes, and spacious halls make it a unique and attractive historical place of the city. Over many years, the museum expanded its collection and it becomes one of the most important places of history in South Asia. The most valuable treasure of the museum is its Gandhara collection.
