What are black holes?

Black holes are regions in space with a pull of gravity so strong that nothing can escape. This is the reason why black holes are black because the light isn't allowed to escape but is taken in.

Nothing can escape a black hole's pull. It's gravity is so intense that nothing even light, the fastest thing in the universe, can escape the pull. Once it crosses what is called the event horizon(boundary or point of no return), there's no coming back out.

Black holes rip the fabric of space-time. The black hole singularity(the infinitely dense, small point at the center of the black hole) is so dense that it rips space and time. And at the singularity, gravity and density are infinite.

Time dilation. The gravity from the extreme curvature of space-time around the black hole is so great that time passes differently near the black hole. It slows down time near it rather than further away.

Gravitational lensing. The pull of gravity is so strong that black holes can bend and distort light from near by objects in space like stars

Frame dragging. As black holes rotate, they can twist space-time around them

Wormholes. These are bridges or connections in space-time which could shorten distance of travel in space. Hypothetically, black holes can be entangled to form these bridges called wormholes.
