The leaves are heart-shaped or oblong, glossy green with white or silver spots. The veins of the leaves are beautifully spread like a pattern. The plant is usually 1-2 feet tall. This plant can also bloom, but it is not very showy. The main beauty is in the leaves. Many call the caladium plant a living painting. Because its leaves are like painted with a crooked colored brush. Each caladium leaf creates a different identity with its own color and pattern.

Prefers shaded light, but does best in indirect sunlight. Leaves can burn in direct sunlight. Light loamy soil, which retains water and also helps in drainage. It grows faster if organic fertilizer is added. The soil should be kept slightly moist, but excessive water can rot the roots. Excess water should be removed during the rainy season. The leaves become larger and brighter if liquid organic fertilizer is applied every 15 days.

It is mainly propagated by tubers or rhizomes. In summer, the tubers can be lifted from the ground, cut and separated and planted as new seedlings. It is used to enhance the beauty of the roof, balcony or shady garden of the house. It is also used as an office and indoor plant. If you keep this plant indoors, the place looks very “fresh and natural”. Caladium usually goes dormant in winter. Then the leaves dry up, but the main part (tuber or bulb) survives. It gives rise to new leaves again in early summer. Therefore, even if the leaves of the plant fall in winter, you should not cut them off.
