Runaway pumpkin sends police on spooky pursuit

in #ohio7 hours ago

Let's get some fun news out there involving police so that the people who have to see everything as political can hopefully have a laugh of some sort instead of being so pro-this or anti-that all the time as if their opinion or activism actually meant anything to the real powers that be. Just for a few minutes ok?

In A smallish town in Ohio, the police had to get involved with a rather odd victimless crime. A very large inflatable light up jack-o-lantern had broken its bonds in someone's yard and was terrorizing neighborhoods and made its way to the highway where it's trail of terror continued.

These things can be picked up at one of those Spirit shops that are open for a month a year for around $100 and well, who wouldn't want one. It is kind of up to you how you are going to secure it though and you can see it has a few tiny straps to keep it in place. It certainly isn't meant to be anything that will stand up to very vicious weather.

it's unclear as to why the police got involved or how they came to be charged with retrieving it, but nobody complained and I found it amusing that they had their body cam on during the arrest. They experienced a great deal of difficulty in grabbing it in the wind and it eventually took several officers and some bystanders to finally get it in the back of a squad car.

I guess the police are a lot more laid back in Parma Heights because they had a laugh during the entire thing and when they finally made their arrest, they returned it to the house that it originated from. The pumpkin was let off with a warning, and no charges were filed and nobody had to pay anything.

While I was gathering details for this story I accidentally discovered that this is not an isolate crime. Basically exactly the same thing happened last year and guess what? It also took place in Ohio! IS there a grand pumpkin scheme to overthrow the police in that state?

The two incidents took place a mere 15 miles from one another. Somebody send in the FBI immediately!

I'm thinking this must be a relatively peaceful part of the US because no shots were fired.
