SLC S27 Week2 - Let's Play OpenTTD:Roads

Assalamualaikum my fellows I hope you will be fine by the grace of Allah.

I am participating in the video game OpenTTD challenge by @sergeyk. I like to play games but this is my first time playing this game. I hope I will learn and showcase my work through this challenge.

🚛Task 1🚚

I have loaded my saved game and I saw the funds were less than expected because the gam was running and I paused it late. But I hope I will be able to manage everything in this hardest biome which is desert.

• My starting year in the game is 1950
• My initial funds are $194250

At the stat of the tasks teh population of both the towns is given as follows:

• akmalshakirhill has 509
• Islamabad which I have renamed here have 1709 population

Build a bus station in your town (the one with your login) and in the second town (the capital).

I have learnt complete lecture by the teacher carefully again and again and I hope I will everything correctly.

I am building bus staion in my town and Islamabad. I have selected build road infrastructure. It sowed me a complete new menu about road constrcution. I chose sixth option and selected suitable direction of the bus station.

It costed me $644 to build this north side bus station. Similarly I have built a bus station in the East side of Islamabad. It costed me same amount.

Build a depot.

I have built depot for the vehicles buying and maintenance. I bought it and placed it in my personal name town.

Lay a road between the towns.

I started building road from Islamabad and connected that road to the main road of akmalshakirhill. Now communication between two towns has become easy. I will run tranports via this road in the towns.

Demonstrate that building a road on different tiles has different costs (use + shift)

• On desert the road cost per tile is 202
• On greenery road cost per tile is 172
• On the cactus plants the cost to build road is 232

Buy one bus.

I bought a MPS Regal Bus. It is easy to buy. I clicked depot. From the menu of depot I clicked new vehicles and bought this bus.

Assign it an order — a route between these stops (the two towns)

I assigned the order for the bus to travel non stop between both the bus stations.

Bus is running from akmalshakirhill town to Islamabad. I got notification about the happiness of citizens that development has started and a Bus has started working here.

Similarly, build cargo stations in both towns.

Two cargo stations are now installed in both the towns. Now I will run mail truck in between these cargo stations.

Buy a mail truck in the depot.

I bought MPS Mail Truck and it is running on the roads from akmalshakirhill cargo stations to Islamabad cargo station on stop. When it run first time I got a pop up notification from the audience that they are happy to see a mail truck in the town.

🚛Task 2🚚

Independently choose another type of resource and the corresponding industry for it.

I figured out a factory in akmalshakirhill area. This factory requires following things:

• Copper Ore
• Rubber
• Wood

Near factory I got a resource where Copper Ore is available. I will send Copper Ore from the resource to factory to generate some revenue in the game.

Extend the road and build a depot if necessary.

To transport copper ore from resource to factory I have made a road. On both the endings of road there are two truck or cargo stations. Near resource of copper ore there is one vehicles depot.

Buy a truck for the corresponding type of cargo. Set up a route (order) to transport this type of cargo.

I bought one truck which is special to transport copper ore. I hope it will work well.

• The truck fills copper ore from resource
• After filling the Copper ore can be seen
• When it reaches factory it it is emptied

When full truck of copper ore is unloaded at factory then I am earning $1398. It is looking a good amount of profit.

Happy to see that my company is growing. On the right side complete information of the finances is given.

🚛Task 3🚚

Describe what you think about your transport company — what is missing?

I am not experienced in this all but I must say that like real life transport companies I need more vehicles in my company. Currently there are only 3 vehicles and each one is specific to its purpose. I am going to add more vehicles to my tranpost company to expand its business and to generate more revenue.

At first I have added 4 MPS Copper Ore Trucks and I hope these are enough to work and to transport Copper Ore on time without leaving extra for waiting.

All 4 MPS Copper Ore Trucks are working.

At first there was only one passenger bus but now I have added one more to carry remaining passengers and to transport the passengers in time. Now my passengers buses are 2.

My total number of road vehicles is 7. One is a mail truck, 2 are passenger buses and 4 are copper ore trucks.

I have already felt one blunder from my side that I run more trucks for copper ore than required and now my trucks are not filling completely because of low production of copper ore and I am loosing expenses on the travelling of the trucks. But still I am making profit let us see how I manage next.

Finally on February 22nd, 1964 I repaid all the credit and still I have something in my account. It took me 13 years and almost 2 months to repay all the credit. It was a long interval.

There are no noticeable changes from the start and end of this task. Maybe later on somethings can change.

🚛Task 4🚚

Earn another 200,000 — how many years have passed?

It was looking an easy task but literally I am feeling dizzy by completing this task. It took me many years more than my expecattions and in this way it got a lot of time in this achievement.

I completed these $204224 on July 4th, 1984. It took me 19 years, 6 months, and 4 days to earn this amount after repaying all the credit. If I count all the years when I started playing this and towards earning these $204224 then it took a total of 33 years 6 months, and 4 days.

After playing this game for many years you can see the profile of my company and the graph which is showing my profit.

• In the start my profit was less but it was going down because in the beginning there was no any earning source of mine and for the taxes and other developments in the town my money was being deducted.

• After lanuching vehicles my proit rose upward and then in the middle it fell down suddenly because Copper Ore resource was low and my vehicles were moving empty or less than half so my profit went down.

• Then with time my profit increased and it continued in the zig zag motion. At the end the copper ore incraesed a lot.

I am surprised why the population of the t0wns has not increased or decreased. But I noticed the population in the nearby town Drunfingley decreased to 114 but the population in my towns did not impact.

I have saved the game file as homework2.sav to use it in the next week.

I was worried if I will be able to manage and play in the dessert for the week 2 but so far I have played in this but it was difficult and it took many years and I did not like this thing. I need to learn many more things to boost profit levels so that I can earn more in less time.
