When a couple arrived at the age of 25 years, families and friends paid homage to the bride by placing a silver crown on her head as a sign of happiness for the duration of the wedding. The same thing happened with the 50 years of marriage but, as you can imagine, in that case the crown was golden.

From then on, the custom of giving a special gift to the bride and groom for their union was extended to other years and each time the gifts consisted of different materials, from the most fragile to the most solid, to represent the strength and stability of the couple that increased over time.

The American writer Emily Post, who named every wedding anniversary, wrote in 1922 in her book "Etiquette in Society, Business, Politics and at Home" a series of tips for celebrating wedding anniversaries with an appropriate gift.
