#peopleevents 1/365 - Pope John Paul II.

in #peopleevents7 years ago

Hello, my friends.

I decided to make a daily rubric of people and events that mean a lot to me.

I will post under the hashtag #peopleevents.
I hope that these notes will be informative.

Today is the birthday of the Roman Pope John Paul II (1920 - 2005). He would have turned 98 years old. John Paul is the first Roman pope of non-Italian origin, elected over the past 455 years. One of the youngest pontiffs in history and the first pope of Slavic origin.

Travelling, I noticed that near the churches of different countries are its monuments. Here are my photos from the Royal Castle of Krakow and the Mogilev Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and St. Stanislaus

An anti-communist and conservative, successive peacemaker, Pope John Paul became, in my opinion, an outstanding pontiff when on March 12, 2000, during a traditional Sunday Mass in St. Peter's Cathedral, John Paul II publicly repented of the sins of members of the Catholic Church. He asked for forgiveness for the sins of church leaders: church schisms and religious wars, "contempt, acts of hostility and silence" towards Jews, violent evangelism of America, discrimination based on gender and nationality, manifestations of social and economic injustice. Never in the history of mankind has any religion or denomination brought such repentance.

Это величественный поступок. Я, как - то пропустил этот момент, возможно из-за моего очень юного возраста на 2000 год. Интересная рубрика.

Спасибо, попробую оправдать доверие.
