#peopleevents 5/365 - Aznavour 94.
May 25, 1924 the French chansonnier, actor, public figure Charles Aznavour was born.
In his autobiography, he says that from the numerous blows of fate he still has a few bruises on his soul and face, and how many were artistically executed kicks in the ass! He wanted to sing, but everyone said that he had no chance in this field, because with such a voice and with such appearance one cannot appear on the stage. For all in his life, the singer fought himself and does not owe anything to anyone. Aznavour never forgot about his Armenian roots, about the fate of the people who were killed for the sake of race purity, in the name of religion.
Father was a singer, his mother an actress, but even his father's Georgian passport could not serve as a defence, and they had to flee to escape genocide. They wanted to move to America, but they settled in France. Father performed songs in Russian and Armenian, and grandfather, the former chef at the governor of Tiflis, opened one of the first Russian restaurants in France. The opening of the restaurant coincided with the birth of Charles. He became it when in the hospital they could not pronounce the name given by the parents.
