Today, May 25, 1904 in Paris was again on FIFA - the International Football Federation. The agreement was signed by representatives of seven countries - France, Belgium, Denmark, Holland, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

The progenitor of the organization was the 27-year-old Robert Guérin, journalist of the newspaper "Utro" and secretary of the football department of the Union of French sports societies. He was elected the first president of the new federation. It was determined that in FIFA countries must represent national football organizations, clubs and players were prohibited from simultaneously representing different associations, the disqualification of players was to be recognized by all FIFA members, and matches are held according to uniform rules. The amount of the contribution, which FIFA members were supposed to pay each year, is curious - 50 French francs, proving that everything was built on the bare enthusiasm of the organizers.

Under the Guérin FIFA added to 8 countries. Germany joined immediately, sending a telegram to Paris, and England two years later. Guérin then left his post and was replaced by the Englishman Daniel Burley Woolfall, who successfully presented football at the Olympics in 1908 and 1912. Really brought football to the world level the third president of FIFA, Frenchman Jules Rome, who embodied the idea of ​the world championships in football. The first of them took place in 1930 in Uruguay. The hosts, who won the two previous Olympics, became the first world champions.

This year, Russia will host 21 world football championships.
