In 2016, man from Portland, Oregon paid a hitman $50,000 to kill his wife, Susan.

The husband told the hit-man to use hammer and to murder look like a robbery that had gone wrong. When the hit-man turned up and attacked her, Susan managed to fight him off. She ended up eventually killing the hit-man  with her bare hands. 

Following this, Her husband was sentenced to ten years in prison.
