We constantly battle to determine what is value as most people unfortunately associate price with value and that many times can be far from the truth. I have watch that my father gave me before he past away and although it can be bought for a couple of hundred dollars today, it has much more value to me than that. It is a reminder of what my father was to me and how I no longer have him in my life. I don’t even use it anymore because I am afraid of the things I would do to protect it. That is value, not the price I can get it for at the local mall.
I totally get you... there is a swiss army knife that belonged to grandpa.. it's a treasure to us, even though it's an antique probably worth a good penny, it will never be sold.
