A Trip to the Lesser-Known Great Wall of Linhai

Before my trip to Zhangjiajie, My friends and I stopped in Zhejiang to visit Linhai, a very old chinese city with a wall encircling its borders. Many parts of the town are newly constructed, but the wall and temples in the surrounding hills have been well preserved.

The wall’s construction began in the Jin Dynasty (265-420) and remains one of TaiZhou’s most historic and beautiful locations. Climbing the wall, one will see numerous panoramas of the Lin River and surrounding mountains, some of which are dotted with picturesque pagodas (this a Japanese term, but that’s what they looked like).

When standing atop one of the sentry posts along the wall, I noticed a flag whipped into action by the wind against an overcast sky. I liked the eerie, almost ominous feel of the scenery and decided to make an exposure of it, waiting for the wind to come again for more dramatic effect.
