An acidic soil gives blue flowers. You can have pink flowers colored blue by adding aluminum sulphate or hydrangea blue maker to the ground. This ensures that the soil becomes more acidic to which the flowers respond and turn blue.
And indeed i think hydreagas are the only Ones this way.
We have very acidic soil in this area. I guess that's why all the hydrangeas I see are blue!
