Exhibition of Antiques of Ancient India

in #photography3 years ago

Good afternoon friends, how are you all?

I woke up a little early today. I am going to go to the book fair at two o'clock today. The Kolkata Book Fair is the largest book fair in Asia since 1986, when the First Calcutta International Book Fair was held. There are various stalls of different countries in the fair. There are many book stalls from Bangladesh, China, Russia, Germany, Italy, United Kingdom, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Vietnam, Peru, South Africa, Venezuela etc. There are book stalls in different languages from different provinces of India. I don't understand much, I don't touch anything except Bengali books and many English books.

This time my target is some special book stalls - Dev Sahitya Parishad, Lalmati, Ujjwal Sahitya Mandir, Ananda Publishers, Sandesh, Patra Bharati and Penguin Publishers. But this time I am thinking of attacking some special stalls of Bengali science fiction and comics.

Anyway let's start today's museum episode.

Today is the 15th episode of the "Exhibition of Antiques of Ancient India" episode. So far in a total of fourteen episodes I have shared photographs of many antique products made of wood, metal and ivory. I hope you did not feel too bad.

Here are some of the ones I found to be interesting:

  1. A copper-shaped dome-shaped vessel with a Mughal-era lid
  2. A battle shield of ancient Rajasthan made of gold
  3. A flower basket made of gold, flowers, leaves, flower buds and butterflies
  4. A suradan from Rajasthan, made of red stone from Jaipur, with colorful floral designs
  5. A helmet used in battle by the Rajputs of ancient India
. A pair of fighting elephants made entirely of ivory
. An extraordinarily elaborate dagger made entirely of ivory

So friends, let's see what we have organized today! I hope you don't mind today's event.

It is a copper-shaped dome-shaped Mughal-era lid with a lid on it. Gai's extraordinary craftsmanship in the pot is a testament to the tastes of the Mughals in India at that time.

I was shocked to see this shield of war. The war shield, derived from an ancient dynasty of Jaipur, Rajasthan, is made entirely of gold. On the shield designed extraordinary flower vine leaves. All gold. Just inside the shield are many thick sheets of bronze that make the shield impenetrable. Even then, the gold part of the shield is not less.

This wonderful object is a flower stalk made of gold, flowers, leaves, flower buds and butterflies. Everything has been made extraordinarily beautiful and perfect. And the whole thing is made of gold. Great work of art.

This suradan from Rajasthan is made of red stone from Jaipur. It has a colorful design - red, blue, green, yellow, white and black floral designs.

It is a helmet used in war by many ancient Indian Rajputs. Earlier in the day wars were fought with shields, swords, spears and bows and arrows. At that time helmets were worn on the head to protect the head from the deadly attack of sword, spear and arrow. The body design of the helmet makes it easy to guess that it is the helmet of a general or army commander.

A pair of fighting elephants made entirely of ivory. Numerous delicate carvings have been embellished on the two elephants. Great to see.

A dagger made entirely of ivory. Although it is completely unsuitable for use in war. Because it's a show piece. The handle of the dagger is visible. At the end of the handicraft is a sculpted whole elephant statue. Eyes are covered when you see the show piece. Great.
Venue: Indian Museum, Kolkata, West Bengal, India.
