Vintage Photos - eBay Set #2 (381-384)
I made some impulse buys after getting a new scanner and picked up a huge batch of slides a while back. These pictures span from as early as the late 1940s to as late as the early 1990s. These were from Goodwill and eBay. There are many thousands of these slides. I will be scanning some from time to time and posting them here for posterity.
This set continues a batch of slides that I bought on eBay a while back. I don't have as much to go on as to the ultimate origin of these compared to the previous batch I was working on. They came to me from eBay and most likely were picked up at an estate sale by the seller. Most of them seem to be taken in the 1960s and same individuals are included in many of the photos. It looks like there are some that were taken in Miami and some that were taken in New Jersey and perhaps elsewhere. I get the impression that Miami was a vacation spot for this family.
The first photo was processed January 1967 and looks like a Christmas morning photo, presumably December 25th, 1966. I'm guessing these kids are grandkids of the couple we frequently see in this batch of photos.
This guy guy was apparently serious about his penny collection. I can see labels for pennies from the 1930s and 1940s here. For the most part even today they aren't worth very much but there are a few, especially errors, that are worth...a pretty penny.
I believe that the third photo shows bride's maids at a wedding reception. A few previous photos have been from this wedding.
The last photo, like the first, was processed January 1967 and it looks like it shows the same Christmas morning. The bike under the tree has got to be the classic present. I recall four Christmases in my childhood that featured a bike under the tree. That plug sure looks like a fire hazard. It reminds me of that scene in 'A Christmas Story' where he plugs in the leg lamp and blows a fuse...
