Roselle rose flower is widely recognized for both its ornamental beauty and its economic value it is native to West Africa but has been cultivated for centuries in Asia the Caribbean and Central America due to its striking red calyces and diverse uses the plant typically grows as an annual shrub reaching about two to two and a half meters in height with dark green leaves that are deeply lobed and often tinged with a reddish hue the flowers are usually pale yellow or light pink with a dark red or maroon throat and though they are attractive in their own right the true value of the roselle lies in its fleshy red calyces which develop after the flower withers these calyces are harvested for use in food beverages and traditional medicine roselle thrives best in warm tropical or subtropical climates under full sun and well-drained soil it requires regular watering but cannot tolerate waterlogging making careful soil preparation essential.
