This week I was able to take off and visit my wonderful auntie in Narrowsburg, a small, picturesque Hamlet in Sullivan County upstate New York. It's nestled on the east shore of the Delaware River between the Catskills and the Poconos, its center literally a single road, Main Street, lined with trendy mom and pop shops on either side. Despite its diminutive size, Narrowsburg is quite literally bursting with arts, with its own yearly film festival, a one-of-a-kind Riverfest, and not one but two art councils, as well as an art gallery, The Forage Space, which offers art exhibitions and a theater which features, the Big Eddy Film Festival, plays, movies, and jazz.
There are a lot of transplants from NYC either full time or as weekenders, like my aunt, and long time locals who all seem to eat and congregate at the local restaurants or coffee shop in an atmosphere of casual country fun. When I was there, we enjoyed an array of big blue skies and lots of sunshine as well as a symphony of clouds that offered a fair amount of stunning drama over our heads. I had a great time and am really pleased to share with you some of the photographs I took on my little sojourn.

@journeyoflife Hi Farwa, it's very lovely upstate though some of the areas have a depressed economy and that's rather sad. Narrowsburg is making a comeback however, and it's nice to see. I like getting out of the city especially to visit family. Yes, a big change, I imagine! What was that like for you?
How's motherhood? And, Baby? I hope very well!!
I agree it is sort of depressing honestly , because there's not really much to do out there and barely see people around . Like we have here, people is an understatement haha. It's nice to visit upstate areas once ina. While to get away . And the change was big , it just took some time to adapt to people pushing each other , crowded buses and what not . Motherhood and baby have been very intense as I am going to college full time too. Sleepness nights are begun. Hope you're well and the kids are well too :)
Oh my! I remember those sleepless nights! While tiring, they present a nice opportunity for quiet bonding. Funny, but I was just talking about that today with my son who has come home from college for the weekend. It's so nice to have him home. Just now baking cookies and loving the mom-on-weekend!
So new mother and college too! Wowza! Respect! Lot's and lot's of respect!
Big hug! :D

@ilanaakoundi,
Your photography reminds me where I am living now! You made an absolutely brilliant photography there, but personally I hate to live in that kind of weird place like I do now :/
@theguruasia I hear you! So many small towns are striving to free themselves form economic upheaval. That struggle is real and worthy of storytelling. Thank you for your support. I'm always so glad to hear from you.
Cheers!
I used to live in Upstate NY for 12 years and I loved it , this reminded me of old memories . Now living in NYC it's a big change.
Did you like it there ?
