But for centuries, the port of this noble town was proud to receive all kinds of travelers, who came under the protection of their personal dreams.

Since the Late Middle Ages, many were the pilgrims who left their footprints in the cold sands of these beaches as a tribute to the sea's manes, before continuing along the coast or taking advantage of those others, of a royal nature, that were lost. towards the interior or they took them to the heart of the mountains. But in the end, as that great poet, Fernando Pessoa, said, everyone must be the one who wants to arrive, but also the one who wants to leave.

Ahora, los grandes navíos transoceánicos pasan de largo y en ocasiones, los timoneles accionan las grandes bocinas, cuyo estridente sonido el viento, ese metafórico cartero que llega siempre a todas partes, lo acerca hasta la costa como si fuera un postrer telegrama de despedida. Pero durante siglos, el puerto de esta noble villa se enorgulleció de recibir todo tipo de viajeros, que llegaban amparados por su sueño personal.

Desde la Baja Edad Media, muchos fueron los peregrinos que dejaron, como tributo a los manes del mar, sus huellas en las frías arenas de estas playas, antes de continuar camino por la costa o aprovechar aquellos otros, de índole real, que se perdían hacia el interior o les llevaban al corazón de las montañas. Pero al final, como decía aquel grandísimo poeta, que fue Fernando Pessoa, todos han de ser quienes quieren llegar, pero también, quienes quieren partir.
