RE: Urban Jungle / Architecture Photography / 35 mm Collection 1
These are great. Have you only ever shot film? I'm looking into maybe buying a film camera again and love the results you're getting from the Canon AE-1. Have you got any thoughts or recommendations?
So I own a DSLR, but I haven't got the right results from it as I am not a very technically knowledgeable person when it come to photography... I prefer to just point and shoot and my Canon AE-1 was perfect for that as it had a automatic light meter and gave a great effect. I have tried other manual film cameras which sometimes get good results but was very hit or miss. I am looking into researching a bit more into it... But yeah I'd recommend going for that has an inbuilt light meter or is just a point and shoot film camera unless you know what you are doing with them. My friend on here is pretty good with film cameras @cottonlazarus you should ask him about film, I'm sure he'd help you out. My Canon AE-1 has just broken after being in my family for years so I am considering moving on to a similar Pentax 35mm camera... I just haven't decided what model.
Awesome thanks for the info and I'll definitely check out @cottonlazarus. Be interested to know your thoughts on the Pentax.
I'm currently using an X-Pro2 which I absolutely love, but am trying to go from full auto to a more manual mindset, one setting at a time. The view is to then dabble in film.
Yeah your X-Pro2 stuff looks great. I'd love to have a digital camera that creates the same sort of results. Do you have any recommendations for digitals cameras on a budget that would be good for point and shoot? I currently have a Nikon D3100 and it is not good at all..
Thanks a lot. I guess it depends on the type of photography you want to focus on (pardon the pun). I'm predominantly into street photography and started out with a Ricoh GR II (which I love and still have). It's a 28mm prime lens point and shoot that's really robust and discreet so perfect for that type of shooting.
Other than that I really do recommend anything in the Fuji X-Series range. There's a fair bit of choice at different price points and they have a set of F2 weather resistant lenses that are well priced and very high quality (50mm, 35mm, 23mm).
I moved to a X-T10 which is a very capable camera but always had my eyes on the X-Pro2 and haven't looked back. The last thing I would say is that Fuji are really good at updating firmware. The camera you buy will more than likely end up having more features after a year or so as they're always trying to improve them across the current range.
I just want to be clear...I don't work for Fuji and this is not a sponsored post 😉.
Oh man after researching a bit more I really love the stuff you can get from the Ricoh GRs. I love the film ones as well... Thinking I might get one of them.. and loving the X-T10/20s. Street photography was always my favourite type of photography although I mainly shot like buildings and weird objects in the street instead of actual people.
