Botanical Description

The plant produces an abundance of bright yellow, funnel-shaped flowers, though orange and peach-colored varieties also exist. After flowering, the plant bears distinctive fruits—smooth, green, or blackish drupes shaped somewhat like a nut. These fruits contain seeds that are highly poisonous, earning the plant its common names “lucky nut” or “be-still tree,” a grim reminder of its lethality.
