The Cascading Jewel of the Garden
Surfinia is not a natural species but a specially bred hybrid petunia, developed in Japan in the 1990s. Unlike traditional petunias that tend to grow upright, Surfinia is known for its vigorous trailing habit, making it ideal for hanging pots, raised planters, balconies, and cascading over garden walls. Its blooms are large, funnel-shaped, and come in a wide array of colors from deep purples and reds to bright pinks, blues, and even bi-colored varieties.
One of the reasons Surfinia has become a garden favorite is its incredible blooming power. When given the right conditions sunlight, regular watering, and well-drained soil Surfinia flowers can bloom continuously from spring to autumn. Unlike some flowers that fade quickly or demand constant deadheading, Surfinia keeps performing with relatively little fuss.
