Moss-rose purslane is a low-growing succulent flowering plant that belongs to the Portulacaceae family and is admired worldwide for its dazzling and cheerful display of flowers The plant is native to South America particularly Argentina Brazil and Uruguay but has become naturalized and cultivated in many parts of the world due to its hardy nature adaptability and ornamental value Moss-rose purslane is an annual plant but in warm tropical and subtropical climates it often behaves like a perennial forming spreading mats that can cover the ground with vibrant colors Its succulent leaves are cylindrical fleshy.
