Spider lily is native to tropical and subtropical regions of the Americas including the Caribbean Central America and parts of South America it is admired for its unusual and elegant flowers which feature long narrow white petals that spread out like spider legs giving the plant its common name at the center of the flower is a delicate cup-shaped structure surrounded by stamens that extend outward in a star-like fashion creating a truly eye-catching appearance the flowers are often fragrant especially in the evening attracting pollinators such as moths and butterflies and they usually bloom in clusters on tall leafless stalks that rise above the strap-like green foliage.
