This is among my favorite shots among this antique postcard series, taken nearby where I live, at Mountain View, NY. The higher vantage point looking down on the wake of the launch as it makes its way along the lake channel is serene and somewhat eerie. I scanned this from a glass plate negative and added the sepia tone just for laughs; the original photographer was unknown, although the sleeve gave ample evidence that this was a commercial postcard series that had been reprinted several times. No doubt, they were among souvenir items for vacationers staying at the Mountain View House (now gone, of course) to buy, a nearby hotel featured on several of the photographs.
