The Oenothera rosea plant typically grows low to the ground, forming a mound of slender green stems that support its dainty flowers. Each bloom is usually about 2 to 3 centimeters wide, with four petals that open in the evening or late afternoon, giving it the “evening primrose” name. The flowers often have a subtle, sweet fragrance that attracts moths and other nocturnal pollinators. This species thrives in well-drained soil and prefers sunny to partly shaded locations. Its drought tolerance and adaptability make it a resilient choice for gardens in warm and dry climates. It can spread moderately but is not usually invasive, making it manageable for gardeners.
