Eventhough I do have access to google and even wikpedia - the dates and numbers are "significant" (think: dream signification) to my story for the way you worded them: it accentuates the failure of this car to reach the consumer market. The dates are the dates for the protagonists (which I had not noted before). A string of cars travel through the novel (time indicators?) and ends with a BMW Z4 (240Z made me think of that). It's all fascinating for me, since I know nothing about cars (only care about the seats).
